Our pledge
I started runmygig because running a live show is hard enough without the tools working against you.
What we won't do
- Sell your data. Not your name, not your number, not your email, not who came to what. Ever.
- Send you anything that isn't about a Gig. No ads by text, email or push. No "we miss you" blasts. Once you're signed up, if you get a message from us, it's because something about a Gig you're in changed, or someone's inviting you to their Gig (apart from sign-in links and account notices).
- Turn you into the product. No feeds, no follower counts, no algorithm deciding who gets seen. This is a workplace tool, the same way a clipboard is.
- Show your phone number to the public. Performers, volunteers and guests share contact info so the person running the night can reach them. It stops there.
- Charge performers anything ourselves. Signing up for a Gig, watching one, and getting your alerts are always free on runmygig.
- Track where you are. runmygig doesn't use your location today. If we ever add a "how far are you from the Gig" feature, it stays off unless you turn it on, your phone works out the distance itself and sends us only that (like "about 10 minutes away"), never your coordinates, and we delete it when the Gig ends.
What we can't stand
The arts run on people giving their time, and too many tools treat that as something to harvest. Sign-up sheets that quietly sell your email. Ticketing fees bigger than the ticket. Platforms that make the performers do the promoting and keep the list for themselves. We're not building another one of those.
What we're building instead
A nice, simple tool that anyone can use to run a night: a coffee shop open mic, a pancake breakfast, a city parade. It's free to run a Gig, and the paid plans are priced for people who actually run events, not for investors.
If runmygig works, it pays for itself and for the people who build it, and that's enough. Every dollar past that goes back into making Gigs better: more helpful, more inclusive, and more fun to be part of.
Who does see your data (the honest part)
To run the service, a few companies handle data for us, only to do their one job:
- Google Firebase: hosting and the database
- Our text message provider: sends your alerts by text
- Resend: sends our emails
- Stripe: handles card payments for paid plans (we never see your card number)
- An AI service: reads a flyer, only if you send us one to turn into a Gig
They can't use it for their own marketing, and we don't give it to anyone else.
Your data, your call
- Export everything: Settings → Your data → Export everything.
- Want it gone? Settings → Your data → Delete my account. It deletes your Gigs and everyone's data on them. We keep only payment records (with names and contact details removed) and the documents people signed, with their signing record. Stuck? Email info@runmygig.com.
